Mrs. Shirley D. (Johnson) Chipperini, 80, of Gloucester passed away quietly on Saturday, November 19, 2016 in Beverly Hospital after a brief illness. She was the loving wife of John M. Chipperini with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.

Shirley was born October 12, 1936 in Gloucester. She was the daughter of the late George and Louise (Crary) Johnson. A lifelong resident of Gloucester, she was a graduate of Gloucester High School Class of 1954.

For many years Shirley could be seen working in the Cafeterias of the Gloucester School System. This was followed by her employment at the former ITT Rule Industries where she worked for many years until retiring.

Shirley's true devotion was to her family. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was noted by her family for her outstanding holiday meals. She enjoyed family cook outs at Stage Fort Park, playing cards, LRC, and taking trips to Foxwoods. She also enjoyed traveling with the highlight being visiting her son in Europe where he was serving in the Army. Shirley was also a dedicated Red Sox and, more particularly, an avid Patriots fan for whom each game she would don a Patriots jersey and cheer on her team.

She also leaves behind brother George Johnson and his wife Jane of Gloucester and sister Charlene Montieth and her husband Jim of Gloucester. She is the loving grandmother to her seven grandchildren Nicole, Kevin and his wife Rachel, John M. (USCG), Brendan and his wife Vionette, Joelle, John W.(USAF) and Alexis Chipperini. Her three cherished great grandchildren Jaeden, Evan and Audriena. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
