Obituary

Mr. Richard B. "Dickie" Harting, 78, of Gloucester passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House with his loving family at his side following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Mary A. (Parisi) Harting.

Dickie was born April 6, 1939 in Gloucester. He was the son of the late Robert E. and Evelyn A. (Turner) Harting. Dickie was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and attended Gloucester Schools.

He was the owner and operator of Dick's Autobody for many years until his retirement. He previously worked for Hendrick Motor Sports in Charlotte, NC from 1989 to 1991.

Dickie enjoyed driving around and stopping in and visiting friends. He loved building cars and was an avid Nascar Fan. He also enjoyed remote control boats and remote control cars. He built boats for some time which included the St. Nicholas which is on display at the Cape Ann Museum in Gloucester. One of his favorite places to go in the summer was the Cupboard with whom he was special friends with Pam and Husdon Carter

He is survived by his daughter his loving caregiver throughout his illness
Who Dickie would always refer to her as his "Angel" Christine Amero and her husband Michael of Essex, his son Robert T. Harting of Gloucester. His cherished grandchildren Ashley Amero and Robert T. Harting, Jr. His friend Pam McIntosh and her Australian shepherd Sadie who were an important part of his life.

Dickie's visiting hours will be in the Pike-Newhall Funeral Home, 61 Middle St. Gloucester on Monday evening, May 1, 2017 from 4-7 PM. Interment will be private.
