Obituary

Mrs. Ethel B. (Los) Vadala, 93, of Gloucester passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday evening January 7, 2018. She is the wife of the late Francis W. Vadala.

Mrs. Vadala was born November 9, 1924 in Ludlow, MA. She is the daughter of the late Felix and Anna (Maslon) Los. She was raised and educated in Ludlow Public Schools graduating from Ludlow High School in 1942. After her marriage in 1946 she moved to Gloucester with her husband whom she shared 44 years if marriage until his death in 1990.

After graduating she worked at the F.W. Sickles Company in Chicopee as a tester of transistor radios and other related radio products for the military.

While her children were in school she worked as a crossing guard at the former Forbes School. She later worked at the former Cape Ann Nursing Home. Ethel also worked as a Home Nutrician Aid affiliated with Essex Aggie and the University of MA. In 1972 she worked as a secretary at the Cape Ann Medical Center until her retirement in 1991.

Mrs. Vadala loved to travel. She and her husband made numerous trips within the States. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She greatly enjoyed attending her grandchildren's and great grandchildren's many activities and events.

She is survived by two sons Matthew R. Vadala and his wife Kathleen of Swampscott, and Donald T. Vadala and his wife Barbara of Kingston, NH, one daughter Joanne White and her husband Richard of Gloucester. She is also survived by her six grandchildren Meredith Zeulie and her husband Richard of Amesbury, Jeanette Sheehan and her husband Kevin of Newton, NH, Donald T. Vadala, Jr. and his wife Diane of Lowell, Thomas L. Vadala and his wife Lya of Georgia and Corey Vadala and his wife Julie of Gloucester. Her six great grandchildren Kevin Sheehan and Emma Sheehan of Newton, NH, Shawn M. Hussey of Amesbury, Catherine Elizabeth Hussey of Amesbury, Thomas Vadala, Jr. and Isabella N. Vadala as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ethel is predeceased by her sons David Vadala and Richard Vidala as well as her granddaughter Elissa Vadala and a number of siblings.

Ethel's visiting hours will be in the Pike-Newhall Funeral Home, 61 Middle St. Gloucester on Saturday morning, January 13, 2018 from 9:00-11:00 AM. Her graveside service will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester at 11:15 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
