Obituary

Mrs. Betty Ann Spoon, 85, of Gloucester passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017 in Addison Gilbert Hospital with her loving family at her side. She was the wife of the late George W. Spoon, Jr.

Betty was born January 21, 1931 in Charlestown, NH, daughter of the late Dorothy (Battice) Farnsworth and the late Joseph Shannon. She was a resident of Gloucester for most of her life.

Betty worked for Rule Industries for several years until her retirement. She previously worked as a Waitress in many restaurants across Cape Ann a job she truly enjoyed.

She lived for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to enjoying the time she spent with her family she also enjoyed puzzles, hot fudge sundaes, eating seafood and had a sweet tooth.

Betty is survived by her loving and devoted children Dorothy Jeffreys and her husband Dale of Gloucester, Arthur B. Emerzian and his wife Lauranne V. of New Mexico, Sharon Hanger and her husband Walter of Virginia, Betty Ellis and her husband Douglas of Vermont, Raymond B. Simoneau and his fiancé Kimberly McAlister of Vermont, Lisa Simoneau of Gloucester, David S. Simoneau of Gloucester and Robert T. Spoon and his wife Elizabeth of Wenham. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She is the sister to Dorothy "Irma" Domzello of Florida, Beverly "Joyce" Brittian of Florida, Henry Farnsworth and his wife Dora of Lancaster, NH and Patricia Leverich of Gloucester.

She was predeceased by her daughter Michelle McNutt, her son George W. Spoon,III, her brother Harold "Jim" Battice and her sister Margaret Moore.

Betty's Graveside Service will be in Calvary Cemetery, Eastern Ave Gloucester on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations in Betty's memory be made to a Children's Charity of one's choice.
